Saturn-Uranus. Discipline and independence, unite. These energics are very different and can lead to inner and outer conflict if they fight each other. Uranus needs to be free-ranging while Saturn demands duty and adherence to traditional rules. Trouble will rise with the conjunction and hard aspects if these two extremes fight for control. There could be problems with authority figures, an inability to stick at a job, or a sense of always having one's individual rights trampled upon. The ideal is to balance these two forces, which happens with maturity (facilitated by the easy aspects). Then traditional values can be emphasised when it is appropriate to do so and innovation applied at other times. Learning to compromise and to get one's timing right is essential. But overall, there is a talent for science, technology and computing and the ability to be successful professionally with information technology.

This means that if there is musical or artistic talent or an orientation towards the spiritual life; the ability exists to give these expressions form and to make something practical and long lasting. These forces, when functioning together amicably bring balance between the intuitive and rational sides of the nature. But hard aspects and the conjunction indicate that discipline and spiritual-sensitivity fight. The cautious and conservative side wants to control the artistic-spiritual urges. This is more likely with the conjunction and hard aspects. Frustration can give an urge to force one's way through obstacles. If the “obstacles” happen to be people, it can bring a serious or even a dangerous backlash. This combination gives a very wilful nature that does not like to take instructions from anyone - it considers itself to be the law! To get on with people, these traits need to be reined in. Occasional retreats to recuperate one's energies will be beneficial. The conjunction and hard aspects indicate a tendency to overdo things, carrying duties and work too far so that exhaustion sets in and health problems start. Alternatively, low self- esteem and fears about life may require attention. Going into retreat to address and heal emotional problems is required. This will help to clarify one's life purpose, give better structure to the life and greater confidence to move forwards.

Saturn-Juno. Discipline and marriage unite. Those with this combination take their vows seriously. A commitment is a contract to be honoured and endured through, despite what may come. Challenges will arisc with the conjunction and hard aspects. The potential exists to be too controlling, possessive and jealous. Or putting one's ambitions ahead of the partnership so that resentment arises. Disappointments may cause one to be “married” to the job to avoid what is going on at home. Saturn-Ceres. Discipline and nurturing unite. Early home life was probably well disciplined and organised. Family traditions were observed and duties and responsibilities were allocated and had to be attended to. If this was also accompanied with kindness and concern (the casy aspects), healthy self-esteem would have developed and a mature approach to life. There is also a creative and visionary flair. Hard aspects and the conjunction indicate problems at work because of rigidity of ideas and an unwillingness to compromise and negotiate. The challenge is to learn from difficult experiences and apply the wisdom gained to be more accepting of other people and their ideas in the future.

The soul has issued a challenge - to take responsibility for the life and personal growth and to move forward and away from past negative lifestyles and habits. If this does not happen spontaneously (Saturn on the south- node and hard aspects), then adversity in some form or an illness may occur, to force a reassessment of the life and consequent movement in the right and higher direction. Past-life karma to do with the sign and house Saturn is in needs addressing. Overall, Saturn involved with the nodes indicates the importance of attending to one's life duties.

Saturn-Asc, Discipline and new beginnings unite. Saturn represents karma and the connection to the ascendant indicates that because of unwise actions in the past (life), conduct is being monitored to ensure it is upright and proper. Saturn imbues the nature with a sense of duty and responsibility and the way life is approached will be shaped by this. Importance will be placed upon tradition and conservatism. The demeanour will be reserved, serious and dignified. People will see this and give due respect for the hard-work ethic and common-sense values being demonstrated.
