Vào giai đoạn này trong diễn trình tiến hóa, không có bất cứ loại hình thể nào tương xứng với (hoặc phát biểu đầy đủ) sự sống ẩn ngự bên trong. Không ai thực sự là cao đồ mà lại xét đoán sự phát biểu của thiên tính qua trạng thái thứ ba. Raja Yoga huấn luyện hành giả hoạt động trong trạng thái thứ hai của thiên tính nơi mình. Và qua trạng thái thứ hai này, y liên giao với “chân tính” ẩn tàng trong mọi hình thể. Chính “sự sống thiêng liêng” mới là thực tại cốt yếu, và cả chúng sinh đều đang phấn đấu để phát biểu chân tính này. Vì thế, mọi hiểu biết có được nhờ những quan năng cấp thấp, và dựa vào khía cạnh hình hài sắc tướng đều là hiểu biết sai lạc.
At this stage in the evolutionary process no form of any kind measures up to, or is an adequate expression of, the indwelling life. No true adept judges any expression of divinity through its third aspect. Raja Yoga trains a man to function in his second aspect and through that second aspect to put himself en rapport with the “true nature” latent in any form. It is the “being” that is the essential reality, and all beings are struggling toward true expression. All knowledge therefore which is acquired through the medium of the lower faculties and which is based upon the form aspect is incorrect knowledge.
Chỉ linh hồn mới nhận thức đúng. Chỉ linh hồn mới có khả năng giao tiếp với mầm sống hay nguyên khí Bồ-đề (là nguyên khí Christ, nói theo thuật ngữ Thiên Chúa giáo) ở trong tâm của mọi nguyên tử. Đó có thể là nguyên tử vật chất mà các nhà khoa học nghiên cứu trong phòng thí nghiệm. Đó có thể là nguyên tử con người trong lò luyện của kinh nghiệm hằng ngày. Hoặc đó là nguyên tử hành tinh, bao hàm mọi giới của thiên nhiên trong vòng hạn định của nó. Đó cũng có thể là nguyên tử thái dương, tức là Thượng Đế biểu hiện qua một thái dương hệ. Vì Đức Christ “biết rõ chân tính của con người” nên Ngài mới có thể là một vị Cứu thế.
The soul alone perceives correctly; the soul alone has the power to contact the germ or the principle of Buddhi (in the Christian phraseology, the Christ principle) to be found at the heart of every atom, whether it is the atom of matter as studied in the laboratory of the scientist, whether it is the human atom in the crucible of daily experience, whether it is the planetary atom, within whose ring-pass-not all our kingdoms of nature are found, or the solar atom, God in manifestation through the medium of a solar system. Christ “knew what was in man” and therefore could be a Saviour.
