The use of Form collectively.
Để làm sáng tỏ, chúng ta hãy bàn phần này dưới ba đề mục:—
I propose to take this up under three heads which for purposes of clarity we will call:—
1. Sử dụng âm thanh trong hình thức thiền tập thể.
1. The use of sound collectively in a meditation form.
2. Sử dụng nhịp điệu trong hình thức thiền tập thể.
2. The use of rhythm collectively in meditation.
3. Những dịp đặc biệt sử dụng các hình thức thiền này.
3. Special occasions on which these forms are used.
…… Trong loạt thư này chúng ta đã xem xét khá đầy đủ về tham thiền cá nhân, và đã nhìn vấn đề dưới nhiều khía cạnh khác nhau. Tựu trung việc bàn luận chỉ đủ để tạo sự quan tâm nơi các bạn, khiến các bạn tinh tấn hơn, nghiên cứu kỹ hơn, và khảo xét sâu hơn. Chỉ những gì được hiểu tường tận bằng kinh nghiệm thực sự của tâm thức nội tại mới giúp ích hành giả được phần nào trên con đường phát triển huyền môn khó khăn này. Chỉ có lý thuyết và khái niệm tri thức thì không ích lợi gì cả. Chúng chỉ làm tăng thêm trách nhiệm. Chỉ khi nào những lý thuyết này được trắc nghiệm và do đó được biết là những sự kiện thực tế, và chỉ khi nào các khái niệm tri thức được đưa xuống và biểu lộ ở cõi trần trong kinh nghiệm thực hành thì người môn sinh mới có thể chỉ đường cho những người khác đang tìm Đạo và đưa tay trợ giúp kẻ đi sau. Khi nói: “Tôi nghe” là đã có ích và đáng khích lệ. Nếu nói thêm rằng “Tôi tin” thì càng bảo đảm hơn nữa. Nhưng nếu nói được một cách mạnh mẽ rằng “Tôi biết” thì đó mới là điều cần thiết trong những giờ phút đen tối nhất của thời kỳ mạt pháp này. Hiện nay con số những người hiểu biết hãy còn rất ít. Tuy nhiên, hiểu biết là điều hoàn toàn có thể được, và chỉ tùy theo sự chuyên cần, thành thực và khả năng của người môn sinh trên Đường Đạo có thể đứng vững vàng trong đau khổ.
……We have rather exhaustively considered in this series of letters individual meditation and have taken up the subject from many and varied angles. In all our handling of the matter only enough has been communicated to arouse the interest of the student and to incite him to greater effort, closer study, and deeper investigation. Only that which is understood and grasped as a fact in experience by the inner consciousness avails aught in the hard path of occult development. Theories and mental concepts avail not. They but increase responsibility. Only when these theories are put to the test, and are consequently known to be facts in nature, and only when mental concepts are brought down and demonstrated on the physical plane in practical experience, can the student be in a position to point the way to other searchers, and to hold out a helping hand to those following behind. To say: “I hear” may prove helpful and encouraging; to add to that the words “I believe” may carry added assurance, but to sound forth a trumpet note and say “I know” is the thing needed in this one of the darkest hours of the Kali Yuga. The knowers are as yet few. Yet to know is fully possible and is subject only to the diligence, the sincerity, and the capacity of the pupil on the path to stand firm in suffering.
